September

September 9, 10, and 11 - $25.00 sitting fee - See Mr. Summers for an appointment.

September 24, 2008 – Announcement presentation; Receive Diploma Listing 

Herff Jones will present the packages available for purchase.  Announcements are not a required purchase.  You will also be able to purchase other senior items such as t-shirts and extra tassels.  None of these purchases are required.  Do not waste a lot of money.  I recommend purchasing only the number of announcements needed to send to family and friends.  These announcements do not guarantee seats at graduation.  Do not bring money on this day.  You will only be looking at the items available for purchase.

Tip: You need to take the ACT and the SAT.  Get registered through the Guidance Department.  Don’t wait until the last testing date to test. 

October

Herff Jones - Pensacola, FloridaOctober 2, 2008 – Order announcements from Herff Jones – Library – See schedule for ordering on the library door.  You should bring at least an $80.00 deposit to order the package that you chose on Sept. 24. If you are unable to order on this date, you can click here and order online.

October 2, 2008 - Diploma listing is due, completed, including parent signature, to Mrs. Law.  If Diploma Listing is not received by 3:05 on 10/02/08, a late fee of $2.00 shall be assessed.

October 14, 2008 - Makeup Day for Herff Jones Announcement Orders - If you were unable to order on October 2, see Mr. Maxwell during lunch to take your order.  You must have an $80.00 dollar deposit.  You are still able to order online at the above link.

October 15, 2008 – Senior Day at Chipola from 8:30 – 1:30.  All students must have permission forms filled out, notarized and turned in to Suggs by Oct. 13.  All students will ride the bus unless they attend Chipola classes or have OJT through DCT.  Chipola students and OJT students must have notes from their parents confirming their need to drive.

October 22, 2008 - Senior Portrait Retakes

Tip: If you are planning to early admit to a four-year university, you need to begin applying during the month of October.

December

Dec. 18-19, 2008 - First Semester Exams 
(18th = 1,3,5,7; 19th = 2,4,6)                                            

Tip: You should have begun finding and filling out scholarship applications.  See Mrs. Bruner in guidance or visit the guidance web site for a list of scholarships.

February

February 4, 2009Order Caps and Gowns – Library -This is the only required purchase for graduation.  Bring $38.00. 

February 18, 2009 – Announcements will be delivered - 7:45 - 10:10.

February 20, 2009 – Deadline for ordering Senior Yearbook Ad. See Mr. Summers.  All pictures, writing, and money must be turned in by this date.  Price increases $10 a week after Feb. 20. (No ads will be accepted after March 27, 2009.)

April

April 14, 2009 - Cap & Gown pictures – The photographer will provide caps and gowns for pictures.  Portraits will be taken during government and economics classes.

April 25, 2009 -  Prom – Location: Chipola Arts Center; Time: 8 pm -12 midnight

April 29, 2009 - Caps and Gowns delivered – Caps and gowns will be delivered at 8:30.  Please adhere to the schedule on the library window to pick up your cap and gown.  If you miss your appointment, you will have to wait until after school to pick up your cap and gown.

May 18, 2009 – Senior Recognition Night: 6:00 P.M. (all Senior awards will be given on this night ) Seniors march in.  Honor graduates and their parents are invited to attend a reception immediately following in the library.  We will line up to process into the auditorium outside of the library at 5:30 P.M.  Mr. Ward requests that all seniors wear dressy attire for Senior Recognition Night. While you are strongly encouraged to attend Senior Recognition Night, it is not a requirement to walk at graduation.

May 20-21, 2009 – Senior Exams

May 22, 2009 – Senior Exam Makeup Day 8-12; Finalized valedictorians’ and salutatorian’s speeches should be submitted to Mrs. Law.  They should be typed in Times New Roman 18 pt.

Graduation

Graduation Practice: These practice times are MANDATORY.  We are giving you advance notice of the dates so that you may make arrangements to be off work.  You will not be excused due to work.  If you miss a practice and it is unexcused, you will not be able to walk at graduation. 

Tuesday, May 26, 2009 – Bulldog Stadium: 9:00am - Until (plan for at least 2+ hours)

Wednesday, May 27, 2009 – Bulldog Stadium: 9:00 am– Until (plan for at least 2+ hours)

 

Graduation Night at Bulldog Stadium

Thursday, May 28, 2009 – Seniors should be on the field at 7:15 PM.  Graduation begins at 8:00 PM. 

Attire:  Business Dressy: Girls should wear a dress suit or dark dress with dark dress shoes.  Hosiery is preferred. Remember that you are walking on the grass – stilettos are not a good idea.  Boys should wear dark dress pants, a button down shirt with a tie, and dark dress shoes.

Note:  Project Graduation is organized and funded by the parents of the graduating class.  Marianna High School does not organize functions related to fundraising or hosting the event.
