22.            The appearance of cheating or aiding in cheating (i.e. leaving your book open, looking toward another student’s paper, notes found, ect.) may result in a zero.

23.            Students will abide by all the polices found in the current Marianna High School Student Handbook

 Homework:

Students are expected to work on homework assignments in class and finish them before the next meeting of the class.  Homework will be checked randomly and unannounced.

You must bring your math book and notebook to class everyday, and keep it up to date.

Assignments should be kept in chronological order.  The assignment should be in the upper left hand corner and your name and period in the upper right hand corner.  Each assignment should be started on a separate sheet of paper.  You must show your work to receive credit.  A five-point deduction will be assessed if you have to leave the room to find your homework.  A twenty-five-point deduction after the period ends.  A fifty point deduction any time after one day late.  More than one homework could be collected at any time each resulting in a grade.

Tests / Quizzes:

Tests and quizzes will usually be announced in advance.  If you have an excused absent or check out the day we take a quiz or test, you must take it the day you return.  If your absence is unexcused your grade will be a zero.  You may take a test/quiz any period during the day with prior approval.  The content of “make ups” may differ from the ones given on test/quiz days.  Semester test will count 1/5 of your semester grade.

Grade computation:

Algebra 2 grade = (30% Test average) + (70% Quiz/Homework average)

Liberal Arts Math  grade = (30% Test average) + (70% Quiz/Homework average)

Intensive Math grade = (30% Test average)+(70% Quiz/Computer/Homework average)

Absences & Make up work:

If an assignment, test, or quiz is announced before you are absent then you must take the test/quiz or turn in the assignment when you return to school provided your absence is excused.  If an assignment is made or a test/quiz is announced while you are absent then you have three days to make arrangements with the teacher to either take the test/quiz or turn in the assignment.  Make up work will be done before school or after school or at another time that is acceptable to the teacher.

Extra credit:

Some tests and quizzes may have bonuses on them.  I will drop your two lowest quiz/homework grades at the end of each nine weeks providing that more than three quizzes are given.  Alg 2 and Liberal Arts students can earn three points on a test by turning in all the completed homework for the sections covered on that test.  These should be in chronological order, stapled together, and turned in at the completion of the test.
