yourself, your classmates, your teacher, and the classroom equipment and
materials. Good manners are the basic, visible expression of respect.
KNOW
the Student Handbook, LIVEBY the Student Handbook, because I ENFORCE the Student Handbook.
ATTENDANCE
is vital. Students are expected to be in class and on time.
Excessive absences will affect your letter grade.
CLASS TIME
is valuable. We will begin work promptly. Go to your locker and/or
bathroom between classes. Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings.
FOOD AND/OR
DRINKS of any kind are not
allowed in this classroom—this means anything chewable, edible, or
drinkable.
MAKE-UP WORK
is the responsibility of the student. My assignments will be posted on the
MHS Website. If you need assistance in completing the assignments, it is
your responsibility to schedule a time to meet with me before or after
school.
The classroom TELEPHONE is not for personal use. You may use the phone in the front
office with a hall pass. If I see your CELL PHONE or it rings in
class, it will be taken up and given to an administrator.
You will be allowed
three HALL PASSES per nine weeks…use them wisely. The Hall Pass
Log must be completed before you leave and upon returning. No passes
will be issued the first 10 nor last 10 minutes of class.
BOOKS, BAGS, ETC.,
need to be placed on the table up front or in the middle of the room. Your
work area is small and must be kept neat and clean. Chairs should be pushed
under when leaving. Articles left in the classroom more than 3 days will be
turned in to the office (lost/found area).
GRADES
are a combination of daily/class work, homework, quizzes, class
participation, individual projects, and group projects. Test grades count
twice; all other grades count once. Your semester exam will count one-fifth
of your semester grade.
All rules regarding
COMPUTER USE will be strictly enforced in this lab. You and your
parents will be required to sign an Acceptable Use Policy—which we will
discuss in detail in our classroom. Violation of any rule will result in
your privileges being revoked for the remainder of the school year and may
also involve OSS.
EXTRA CREDIT:
You may elect to bring one ream (500 sheets) of paper per nine weeks. This
paper will be used for assignments printed in our classroom only. I suggest
you purchase inexpensive copier paper as opposed to printer paper. You will
receive an extra-credit grade of 100 if you elect to bring paper. You will
not be penalized if you do not bring paper.
I am here to help you have a
successful year at MHS. Please let me know if you have any problems,
concerns, or suggestions.
